Town Distributes 266 Native Trees to Residents
The Town of Black Mountain held a Community Tree Giveaway to mark the one-year anniversary of Helene on Saturday, September 27th, 2025. A total of 266 native trees were distributed to residents to plant in their yards and neighborhoods. The Town’s Stormwater Utility Fund purchased 200 trees, while Colonial Acres Nursery of Brevard, NC generously donated 66 additional trees for distribution. The Tree Giveaway was designed not only to encourage replanting in areas impacted by Helene, but also to symbolize growth, resilience, and hope for the future. Future tree giveaway events will be announced in 2026.
